Review: Wiegedood - There's Always Blood At The End Of The Road (2022)
Belgian black metallers Wiegedood drop the new album entitled There's Always Blood At The End Of The Road via Century Media Records on January 14th, 2022. It's their fourth album since they formed in 2014.
The album opens with FN SCAR 16, a vicious track, the band immediately strikes with the sharp howl of vocalist that destroys every aisle of our hearing, offering wild and abbrasive black metal riffs. The howl becomes heavier when And In Old Salamano's Room, The Dog Whimpered Softly is sung with angry vocals, wrapped in a gripping atmosphere with a drenched in cruel and haunting melody. Next Noblesse Oblige Richesse Oblige comes with the bursts of dark dissonance, delivers a deep rage and torturous melodies, wreaking havoc with vicious drumming and dark guitar riffs. Until Is Not, a track that offers a softer melodies and this is more accessible to listeners, but they still present the savage howl of vocalist that keeps this track sounding terrible, then the track Now Will Always Be, offers a dark melody that accompanies a ritual to finish the smoldering rage in this song, executed with majestic instrumentals and unrelenting blastbeats. Then Wade, a quiet interlude with soft and dark tones gives us a little moment to breathe, before we are hit again by Nuages, a track that delivers an anxiety and fear with a dark dissonance, that strengthened with sick howls and torturous rhythms which come back to life in this moment. Theft And Begging reconnects with a series of cruel and terrifying howls to bring more suffering in this album, the rhythm dance together with fierce melodies and black sound pallete, before loosening up into lacerating and persecuting solos, and the torment of this album closes by Carousel that comes to haunt us with piercing melodies and eerie raspy vocals that accompanies the diabolical dissonance until the end.
There's Always Blood At The End Of The Road is the real nightmare that presented by band in this album through the harrowing black metal, with wild, raw, and abrassive guitar riffs, sharp, cruel and gruesome vocal howls, intense and unmerciful drumming, with the occasional dark dissonance and piercing melody present to complete the suffering in this album. The songwriting is very aggressive with outstanding production. If you need black metal music that is cruel and no-nonsense, this is the album that you need to consumme.
